building ariowa
Ariowa is a cultural memory platform I'm building for the pan-African community and beyond, centered on a single question: what will the future remember about us? Structured as five interconnected "rooms" — The Kitchen, The Closet, The Family Room, The Garden, and The Library — it gives people a way to preserve, remix, and pass on the fragments of home that travel with us: recipes, voice notes, wedding songs, love letters. The first campaign, Memory in Motion, invites contributors to submit what home means to them, building a living archive designed to carry cultural memory forward to 2100 and beyond.
I'm developing Ariowa end-to-end as founder and sole designer-developer — from brand strategy and narrative design through to a production-ready web experience. The project spans identity systems, editorial content, a contributor submission flow, and an AI-assisted memory shaping tool, all built in Next.js, Tailwind CSS, and Supabase and deployed on Vercel. It's both a real product and a live demonstration of how I work: designing with intent first, then building in code with AI as a true collaborator in the process.
